Getting Exchange 2003 Management Tools to work in Vista

If you install the adminpak that comes with Windows Server 2003 R2, the Active Directory snap-ins will work just fine in Vista, but my fellow admins out there may still be missing the Exchange tabs they're used to having in AD. Indeed, it's almost pointless to create a user if you don't have the Exchange tools available because then you're just ensuring you'll have to come back later and create the mailbox separately.

So in order to get Exchange tools to work in Vista, you don't even have to install the Exchange Support Tools, like you probably did in XP. All you have to do is copy the following DLLs from your Exchange server's system32 folder into your Vista's system32 folder:

exchmem.dll

glblname.dll

maildsmx.dll

pttrace.dll

netui0.dll

netui1.dll

netui2.dll

Finally, run this command:

regsvr32 \windows\system32\maildsmx.dll

and you're all set!
